Our friends at Aloha Sunday in San Diego approached us earlier this year about helping organize a photo exhibit featuring 3 local surf and lifestyle photographers. The photo exhibit titled, “There’s Salt in My Blood, There’s Salt in the Sea” is finally here! MR. DVICE’s solo exhibit is this Saturday, March 10th, at the Thumbprint Gallery in La Jolla from 5p – 10p. The exhibit is titled No Rules Among Goons and features new work by MR. DVICE – “The ghouls in my head in a world where there are no rules and anything goes.” We were able to sit down with him for a short Q+A about the exhibit.
The good people at Surf Ride are starting 2012 off right with Sensory Overload, the first of their quarterly art show series. The art show is on February 4th from 7p-10p at their Oceanside location and is open to all ages! Their will be fresh Mexican food provided by Bull Taco and adult beverages from Pabst Blue Ribbon and Svedka.
Green Flash Gallery was packed to the gills last Saturday for “Fall Into December.” The exhibit showcased a collection of North County artwork, curated by Matty Davis. The joint was rocking’ with tunes from Shake Before Us, who fed our ears with sounds that made our feet tap. Miho Gastrotruck was parked out front, pumping out gourmet viddles all night. Oceanside Aleworks provided a keg of spirits, quenching the thirst of the crowd, and keeping the vibe alive. We were able to snap a few photos of the festivities, enjoy.
Jolby is a design, illustration, and art direction team made up of Josh Kenyon and Colby Nichols. Josh creates the textures and patterns, while Colby creates the characters and the layouts. Their illustrations and designs bring us back to a time when the amount of likes you had on Facebook and number of followers on Twitter didn’t matter. In short, their work puts a smile on our face. Nocturne: Art Inspired by the Night, opens this Saturday (November 12, 2011) at Gallery 204 in Vista, CA. This international juried exhibition is hosted by the good people of Veda Art and American Tattoo, and was curated by artists Yelly and Sarah Spinks. This is a must see event if you are within driving distance of North San Diego.
Monstrinho and Glow will be sharing the walls of Thumbprint Gallery’s new La Jolla location for their first ever duo show together titled, “Tangerines and Monster Dreams.” The show opens this Saturday (November 12, 2011) at 5pm. The good people at Subtext Gallery in San Diego are celebrating their 5th year anniversary this Friday with a group exhibition entitled, Release the Kraken. This group exhibition features vintage aquatic paintings re-imagined by 30 artists. The opening reception is Friday August 12 from 6p – 10p with a live performance by “The Makeup Sex” at 9pm.
