Now for our exclusive interview with Bryan Snyder. Enjoy

What’s your name?
Bryan Snyder.
Where do you live?
Carlsbad, CA. I’ve lived here for 27 years.
How old are you?
30.

How did you originally get involved with art/design?
I have been a doodler for as long as I can remember. When it was time to go to college, I chose business. During my second year I won 2 round trip tickets to Europe through a short film contest. 6 weeks in Europe with nothing but a good buddy, a sleeping bag, a sketchbook and a return ticket really taught me a lot about myself. I returned home, quit business school and moved to SF to study art.
What influences and inspires you?
My most recent body of work is directly inspired by childhood memories. I seek the fine line between childhood and adulthood and attempt to blur it with creativity.

Can you walk us through your creative process?
I begin in a sketchpad doodling ideas. This stage is less about building up the character and more about finalizing the idea, or the story the illustration will tell. I lightly redraw it on cardboard and continue where rendering the shapes in varying color values. A black outline finishes each doodle.
Computer versus pen/paper.
Paper and pencil for sure, but some of my favorite projects have been computer based. I have a background in multimedia so pencil and paper projects tend to run their course over a wide variety of media outlets.
Paint brush versus aerosol.
I grew up with a pencil in my hand, so a brush was the natural progression, but I’ve been using both to build up single canvases lately and I am really digging it. When time is limited, cans are the way to go!

Can you tell us a little bit about your solo exhibit titled Doodle?
I have worked in a drip technique for the past 3 years. This show titled “Doodle” is my first time showing non drip paintings. It’s exciting for me because I learned to draw in this technique so I am returning to my childhood roots. The show will consist of 20+ paintings of Doodle, a character who frequents many of these paintings, as well as some Doodle friends. Doodles will also be hidden in the Carlsbad Village. Pick up your clues at the show!
When and where will Doodle take place?
My solo show “Doodle” will take place at Salon 580 located at 580 Grand Ave. in the Carlsbad Village on Saturday, June 4th, from 6 – 10pm.

Do you have any advice for illustrators/designers/artists that want to quit their day job and become a full-time artist?
Learn your technique and learn multimedia skills including vector illustration, photography, layout, video editing, web and animation. Once you have all that down, you are ready to begin marketing your skills. I went through design school and spent 3 years after creating designs for someone else before I was ready. Once I felt I could market my stuff, I walked out and became my own boss.

Is there anything else about you that you would like the world to know?
Young at Art.
